Sitemap
A sitemap provides access to a list of pages on a website. It is to ensure that any search engine finds and crawls the site. Every sitemap provides a bird’s eye view of your website structure; it therefore eases your navigation on the site. Since the purpose of a website is information dissemination, your sitemap should act as a working roadmap. It should support all search engines in locating important pages on your site. This should be possible whether you have an internal linking structure inbuilt on your website or not. Remember, a sitemap provides vital information to site-visitors as well as search engines. The two kinds of sitemaps, namely XML and HTML cater to two separate user-groups. XML sitemaps provide machine-readable information to search engine bots. HTML sitemaps are formatted links that provide information to readers.
